BANANAS
not just a banana
when waste can be art
when the waste is our job to figure out what to do with; not the companies that generate it or excessively pack it, it’s an artist’s job to bring it to the public eye. To bring the conversation up and keep bringing it up.
It started with eating a banana and looking at it’s shape.
Then, Ren was sketching a loose outline on paper, cutting it out of cardboard, gum taping the edges, and finally gessoing. Some Ren painted in opaque colors; others, were given to Sam to do their detail mark making on them.
They grew in size once Ren and Sam could be sure they would work.
Cardboard cut out of banana next to actual banana for scale.
